Let's pretend it hasn't been that long since my last post ;)

Ok, so a lot has happened since I last posted.  New boyfriend, new position at work (promotion, yay), a teenage son who turned into a man (officially 18 yesterday, UGH),  and working on my health!   This may not seem like a lot, but it really is ;)  Anyhoo, I want to talk about perfume.  I have made over 36 scents in the past 4 years, not that I was advised to do that by any means but it is what it is.  So, I am going to talk about my best sellers.  #1 best seller of all time is CLOVE CIGARETTE.  A personal favorite of mine as well.  My men's line is also a best seller.   In the men's line there are 5 scents; Primal Forest, Woodland, Ancient Woods, Atticus, Tommy Gun and Viva La Creme.  I can bathe in all of these on any given day.  My latest is SUMMER SOLSTICE.  This was inspired by the beach.  I live about 3 miles from the beach and have spent a lot of time here with my dog.  Summer Solstice starts off with the scents of Salty Jasmine air as you walk along the boardwalk, hints of sand and citrus, then winding down with notes of a distant campfire. I am quite proud of this concoction if I may say so myself.  I have not worked on anything for about a year and now will be working on new packaging.  I want to go for a much cleaner look.  The fairy look was awesome and I still love it, however, I get bored easily, that is all.

Ok, so now a little about Hashimotos.  I hadn't heard of this thyroid disorder until I was diagnosed with it just over a year ago.   With Hashimotos I experience a lot of Hypo thyroid symptoms with about 1/4 of the time hyper thyroid symptoms.  Eye issues along with headaches and extreme fatigue are classic for me.  I have been gluten free for about a year (for the most part).  Of course I have to cheat here and there.  I have also gone on anti inflammatory diets and just about to start another one that is suppose to lessen the symptoms.  It seems like a total nightmare for me since I will have to give up tea and agave, a total addiction for me in the morning.  Here's a list of things I can have:

Does this look like fun to you?  I am having a hard time with this one for sure.  I will start next week.  Oh BTW I don't eat meat.  I don't want to start either, so that cuts out one bullet point.  And eat the fruits sparingly????  :(

So the reason for my post is I will be making special blends that are therapeutic for the thyroid.  I am hoping to have these available by the end of July.

Foods to eat

  • Most vegetables (except nightshades and mushrooms): Asparagus, spinach, lettuce, broccoli, beets, cauliflower, carrots, celery, artichokes, garlic, onions, zucchini, squash, rhubarb, cucumbers, turnips, watercress, etc.
  • Fermented foods: Sauerkraut, kimchi, pickled ginger, fermented cucumbers, coconut yogurt, kombucha, etc. You must make your own or buy one of the few brands that are genuinely fermented (not made with vinegar) and free of sugars or additives.
  • Meats: Grass-fed and organic chicken, turkey, beef, bison, lamb, etc.
  • Low glycemic fruits sparingly: Apricots, plums, apple, peach, pear, cherries, berries, etc.
  • Coconut: Coconut oil, coconut butter, coconut milk, coconut cream.
  • Olives and olive oil
  • Ghee (butter oil) unless severe dairy allergy

I was featured in the Menagerie Art Show at the Yost Theater.  Here is a video they left with me.  If I talked any slower I would just die.

Y-Chromosome

My new line design is finally done!  My men's cologne's have been out for a year but now finally the logo is complete!  The colognes in this line are "Atticus", "Primal Forest" & "Ancient Woods".  Woodland is a new on that I will be adding soon.  I am very proud of this line.

Ethereal Treehouse: New Line of Botanical Perfumes

Ethereal Treehouse: New Line of Botanical Perfumes: I have been working on a new line of botanical fragrances. I used rare essential oils and absolutes that I have never used before to create a dark and mysterious line of concoctions. So far I am happy with the results, it's just taking longer than expected. I am just hoping now I have them done by Fall.

Leather Accord

I am trying to make a leather accord.  It's more involved than I thought.  So far I am using Cabreuva, Guaiacwood, Cade, Labdanum, Sandalwood & Agarwood.  So far it's like leather, but needs more rounding off.  I will post more later.

June 2011

Stay tuned for my new line of perfumes and sundries.  It will be dark and very sumptuous ;)  I am hoping to have have this done by Mid July.  This line of perfumes, bath salts, massage, body scrubs & butters will have new oils that I've never used before so new challenges will be ahead.

More on Atticus

Well, I decided to watch "To Kill a Mocking Bird".  I had never seen it and figured it would give me an overall idea of what Atticus Finch would wear.  What a great movie!  But, it didn't make it any easier.  I am making 5 samples and will sniff again in the morning to see if any revisions need to be made.  So exciting and nerve racking at the same time.

Atticus Finch

I know I've abandoned my blogging, but I'm back and with less migraine issues, yay!  I am starting a new custom for someone that wants a scent for her man.  It will consist of Vanilla Bourbon, Benzoin, Woods, Black Tea, Bergamot, and some veggie musk.  Yes, just like Earl Grey Tea!  She would like her man to smell what she imagines Atticus finch would smell like.  I am excited to put this together, samples will go up Sunday.  Then if all is well, will be posted in Etsy for all.

A new scent, even beyond my realm of imagination!

A friend recently requested a custom order of something ethereal and fairy-like.  Mushrooms came to her mind.  So, here we are with a mushroom base.  It's really not as "fungusy" as one might think.  It's actually a bit "chocolaty" and very earthy.  This will be interesting to say the least!  Hoping it won't take as long as the Cookoo for Coconut and Clove Cigarette but we'll see.  I've added Red Rasberry along with Ambrette (veggie musk) to the mix so far.  Had to put it down cause I wasn't feeling it.  The earthy-dirt smell is a bit much to handle.  I will pick it back up tomorrow night.

Perserverence has paid off!

My efforts to make a walking Lord Licorice have paid off!   He really likes the custom perfume I made and wants a full size!  Yay!

It's a new week!

Trystan's been sick with the flu so not much more on my mind than that.  Been sick since Saturday, but pulling through like a champ.  The Dr. said definitely the flu so no meds required, which makes me a happy camper! :)  Been trying to organize my work space since it's driving me crazy (don't need any help there).  I really wanted to mention my new line of Men's products.  I am excited about this and hope I can get it all finished soon.  It's called Y-Chromosome (thank you Zaf for the awesome name and logo).  I couldn't have thought of anything better!   Soo, working on that and trying to figure out what men like!!  I am not sure I know any normal men so it's kind of hard for me to know this.  Shave cream or balm? After shave or lotion?  Do they use these things?  If I were a man, what would I use?  This is what it's going to come down to.   Hopefully, it will work out and I won't have to start shaving my face to get it going!  Any volunteers?

I love a good challenge

Ok, so the other day I had an order for my Jagermeister perfume oil.  I was excited as this was my first for the oil.  It shipped a couple weeks ago and I heard nothing.  I thought, I know some just get wrapped up and forget to leave feedback so I decided to contact him and ask him how he liked his order. He said the scent was very nice but he is looking to smell like Lord Licorice from Candyland.  It's been a long time since I played Candyland but I will take his word for it that there is such a character, who am I to say?  So, I told him to watch for a package in the mail with a few different samples in it.  I will make him into that Lord after all and what a happy ending it will be for all.  He was very appreciative and I am excited for this challenge!  I will post the outcome, providing it's a positive one.  Ok, even if it's not.

Blabblog

So here is where I can get it all out?  Finally.  Well, not that you want to hear about it but......I figure getting it out here will help me focus on the important things which are to make irresistibly awesome smelling perfumes.  Pretty sure I will be deleting this later so here goes.  I am working on two new perfumes, one is "Coconut Cream Pie" which will have a much smoother sounding name hopefully soon.  I'm thinking Cookoo for Coconut, yes, cause I'm a little cookoo.   Plus, already have that name for some of my body butters.  This is a difficult scent to obtain and I am so thankful I scouted out the scents for this.  I have always been a coconut fan!  The other one I am working on is called "Clove Cigarette".  It is to bring back some awesome, and not so awesome memories of my past.  Hopefully, it will be done soon.
